We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Nursing Services to lead our clinical team and uphold our commitment to excellence.

Job Summary:

The Director of Nursing Services is responsible for the overall clinical operations of the hospice program, ensuring the highest standard of patient care in alignment with agency policies and regulatory guidelines. This role provides leadership, coordination, and supervision to the clinical team while maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all direct and indirect patient care services provided by clinical personnel

  • Supervise and support nursing and clinical staff to maintain quality standards

  • Perform clinical chart audits and ensure documentation compliance

  • Collect and analyze data for QAPI; participate in quality improvement activities

  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide guidance for professional development

  • Review patient referrals and assess appropriateness for hospice care

  • Maintain and ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of clinical records

  • Orient new staff and provide ongoing education and in-service training

  • Provide patient care in the home setting as needed

  • Participate in IDG meetings, internal audits, and compliance reviews

  • Ensure proper inventory and availability of medical supplies

  • Ensure all clinical staff adhere to Medicare, state, and federal regulations

  • Maintain current knowledge of hospice care practices through ongoing education and training

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in hospice or skilled home care (hospice preferred)

  • At least 1 year of supervisory or management experience

  • Strong understanding of hospice care regulations and standards

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead a team effectively

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office-based with some local travel required

  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds; ability to assist with patient care

  • Ability to enter homes that may not be wheelchair accessible

Equipment Used:

  • Computer, telephone, copier, calculator, and other standard office/medical equipment
